Further research on Ashford Homes

Posted by Cath Swan |

On further study well into the hours of early this morning, I found a few threads that disturbed me about Ashford homes, but I wanted to really read what other customers are saying as there isn't much about Ashford in reviews i've searched.

I found this thread on Homeone a home building resource website with some good customer conversations about their build process.

If you can take the word of a customer, then it appears that Ashford homes is a nightmare after you sign on the dotted line.

I'm beginning to wonder if there are any builders out there that actually do a good job and complete it when they say they will? Whatever happened to being a 'man of your word'?

Research will continue!!

I have had huge problems with Ashford. We signed a contract one and a half years ago.No roof on our home for nine months, two types of mortar used on our double story home and we have had to engage an independant building inspector to review our home. All of the bricks have had to be removed and the company is about to start rebuilding our dream home. This has proved to be one of the most stressful experiences our family has ever been through.

Thankyou all for your comments. We are SO glad we never went with Ashford, our short-lived experience with them was a little scary. The salesman was sending my husband strange text msgs, and ended up moving interstate in the middle of house plan discussions without telling us. After not hearing from anyone, my husband called to find out he was no longer there!

We have been very happy with Porter Davis to this point. A lot of people think Porter Davis are too expensive, but i think in the end you get what you pay for. We have a guaranteed 20 week build, and so far its been brilliant!

We signed a contract, changed it, never signed a new one reflecting the changes then found out our financing fell thru. Thank goodness! These women from their office call and all they can say is, " you signed a contract". Really? Just give us our deposit back! They even went as far as to tell my hubby that we will be facing huge penalties ...I guess they don't read their own purchase agreements! Run, run, run!!
